45th session of FAO Committee on World Food Security underway in Rome.

On October 15, the 45th session of the FAO Committee on World Food Security started its work in Rome. The event brings together representatives of FAO member states, international organizations, civil society, academia and business.

The agenda of the event includes discussion of new and crucial issues in the field of food security and nutrition in the world, assessment of the effectiveness of the Committee’s work, and preparation of a contribution to the work of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2019, as well as other important topics.

On October 16, a solemn event on World Food Day will be held on the margins of the CFS session. The King of Lesotho, Letsie III, the Queen of Spain of Letizia, FAO Goodwill Ambassadors for Nutrition, the President of Poland A.Duda and the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate A.P.Esquivel are expected to participate.

The Russian delegation is headed by Victor L. Vasiliev, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the FAO and other international organizations in Rome.
