On May 8, 2020, a commemorative event dedicated to the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to FAO and other international organizations in Rome.

Russian Permanent Representative Amb. Victor L. Vasiliev, addressing the staff of the Permanent Mission and the Russians working in the UN organizations in Rome, recalled the exceptional role of the Soviet people in the defeat of nazism and fascism and the liberation of Europe.

The participants of the event honored the memory of all those who died during the war with a minute of silence. They sang songs of the war years.

On May 9, the staff of the Permanent Mission took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial to the fallen Soviet soldiers in the cemetery of the city of Palestrina.

The Permanent Mission also held a mini-table tennis tournament as part of the Victory Day festivities.
