Russian National Dialogue continues

On April 26, the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, held a videoconference for the participants of the National Dialogue on Food Systems in the context of the preparation of the UN member states for the upcoming Summit on Food Systems (New York, September 2021).

The video forum was co-organized by a member of the Summit Champions Network, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs A.V.Yakovenko and Russian representative in the Advisory Committee of the Summit, Permanent Representative of Russia to FAO and other International Organizations in Rome V.L. Vasiliev.

Representatives of almost all Russian Government Agencies and Organizations involved in the Russian agro-industrial complex exchanged views on the progress of the Russian side's preparation in the Summit aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The preliminary results of the National Dialogue, which were reflected in the draft of the corresponding report, were positively assessed. Additional practical considerations are presented to promote the resilience of food systems, healthy diets and food security. They will be analyzed and taken into account when preparing the Russian position for the Summit.

The participants in the National Dialogue generally noted the effectiveness of their interaction on the UN Sustainable Development Goals agenda. They reaffirmed their readiness to continue such efforts in order to advance Russian approaches within the framework of the upcoming UN forum.

In May, the final coordination of Russian positional approaches to the upcoming Summit will take place, and they will be presented on behalf of Russia at the pre-summit, which will be held in Rome on July 19-21, 2021.
