26th Session of the FAO Committee on Agriculture was held in Rome

On October 1-5, the 26th session of the FAO Committee on Agriculture was underway in Rome. The Committee on Agriculture was established in 1971. It provides general guidance in policy development and rule-making on issues related to agriculture, food security, nutrition, rural development and natural resource management. 

At the event the participants considered the issues of sustainability in agricultural production and preservation of natural resources, as well as the effects of climate change on the global agro-industrial complex. In addition, the delegates of the session were presented the results of the FAO Global Soil Partnership.

Another important item on the agenda was the discussion of the activities of the Organization in livestock farming. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of creating an FAO sectoral subcommittee.

Russia was represented by a joint delegation of Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and the Permanent Representation of Russia at the FAO and other International Organizations in Rome.
